Imprinting is Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone's new music project exploring the great masterpieces of the late 18th and early 19th century.
In this album, they revisit on period instruments two timeless masterpieces from the turn between the 18th and 19th century: Mozart's Jupiter Symphony and Haydn's London Symphony.
“Although both symphonies share a common formal language, they reveal two profoundly different approaches: Mozart's is more speculative and universal, while Haydn's is more practical, theatrical and tied to the listening experience. In both cases, however, we are witnessing the height of a form that, through these very works, becomes an essential model for the development of nineteenth-century symphonic music. Recording these two symphonies means not only bringing together two absolute masterpieces, but also observing the end of an era and the opening of new aesthetic perspectives that will leave an indelible mark on the history of music.”
