Imprinting is Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone's new music project exploring the great masterpieces of the late 18th and early 19th century.
In this album, they revisit on period instruments two timeless masterpieces from the turn between the 18th and 19th century: Beethoven's Fifth and Schubert's Tragic.
"For this third volume of Imprinting, we chose to perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4 “Tragic”, with the aim of exploring two pivotal moments in the transition from the Classical style to the Romantic sensibility, examining both the visionary power of Beethoven’s musical thinking and the more introspective, narrative dimension that already emerges in Schubert’s early symphonic writing."
