Baroque Anatomy #5 – The Eye is the first chapter of a new recording project by Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone, an unexpected and evocative journey through Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.
Baroque Anatomy reinterprets the Brandenburg Concertos by immersing each of Bach's pieces in its original musical context, pairing it with works that are similar in style, genesis and instrumentation, to show how each concerto stems from pre-existing models and at the same time transcends them.
“It is unusual to listen to a CD for the first time and then to repeatplay it over and over again. But this recording by the Italian Baroque orchestra Accademia Bizantina is a rare instance of compulsive listening.”
John-Pierre Joyce / BBC Music Magazine
Imanol Temprano Lecuona / Scherzo
